Hello everyone,
I am at a conference in Vancouver today and I came across a blog with all kinds of free online tools. You may want to check it out!
Here is a link to a website full of videos on anything you can imagine and for any age. I particularly like the dance instructional videos. These are under ‘The Arts’ and they are kid friendly. Sometimes it can be very hard to find what you are looking for on YouTube. I suggest you check here first!
Here is a great website that I came across. It has plenty of writing topic ideas if you need one!
Here is a leveled book list that Lisa found for us. You might want to check it out!
Here is something really neat! They say you learn something new everyday. This should cover you for the next week or so. Enjoy!
Hello,
For anyone that is interested in photo editing check out picnik.com. It is a free and easy site where you can edit your photos. There are extra options if you would like to pay but all of the basic tools are easy to access for free. I mostly use it to alter the colours in my pictures or change the brightness. Take some time with your child and see what you can create!
Hello again,
Stephanie came across this great math resource. If you are looking for something new to add to your child’s math or even if you are looking for something fun to do on the computer you may want to check it out!
Hello everyone,
A great way to brainstorm with your child before writing is to web or mind map. This will help your child organize their writing. I think it can also be helpful for them to see, on paper or on the screen, that they actually know a lot and have a lot of good ideas. Some of you may have used the program Inspiration or Kidspiration. these are great programs for your computer to help with webbing. There can be a bit of a learning curve so if you are going to try one of these programs have your child play around with it to get familiar with it. If you would like to try it you can use the online version at mywebspiration.com. Also check out bubbl.us.
For a writing topic: have your child think of their favorite animal or food. make a web about it. Then write a letter to an alien from outer space telling them all about that animal or food.
Hello everyone,
I have come across suggestions for great websites for story boarding and comic writing. They are toondoon.com and pixton.com
Take some time to check them out with your child. They may be a way to spice up their writing!
Hello everyone,
This is the third grade Dolch word list, and last one I will be posting. These are words that should be sight words for you child by the end of grade three. This means that your child should be able to read these words easily if they are in grade 4 or above. Have your child try them. If they struggle with a few words you could add those words to a word wall or add them to a spelling list so that they learn them well.
