Last week we thought about baby animals being born in the spring. Let’s write another story about a baby animal. You can choose the same baby animal or a new animal.
Write a story about a baby animal finding a new friend. Who would it be? And how would they meet? Would they be the same animals or different, or maybe the friend isn’t an animal at all. Think about the fun the two new friends can have. Have fun writing!

Today let’s think about all of the baby animals being born in the spring. Take a moment to brainstorm the types of baby animals you might see in the spring. Think about the farm, the forest and even your back yard.
Choose one baby animal to write a story about. Imagine that the baby animal has wandered away from it’s home. Write a story about the adventure the baby animal has finding it’s way back home. Try to include as much describing words as you can!

Describe what a day would be like if you lived on a dairy farm. If you missed out on the tour, do some research before you write. Base your writing on what you learned but don’t forget to use your imagination!

Hello everyone,
A great way to brainstorm with your child before writing is to web or mind map. This will help your child organize their writing. I think it can also be helpful for them to see, on paper or on the screen, that they actually know a lot and have a lot of good ideas. Some of you may have used the program Inspiration or Kidspiration. these are great programs for your computer to help with webbing. There can be a bit of a learning curve so if you are going to try one of these programs have your child play around with it to get familiar with it. If you would like to try it you can use the online version at mywebspiration.com. Also check out bubbl.us.
For a writing topic: have your child think of their favorite animal or food. make a web about it. Then write a letter to an alien from outer space telling them all about that animal or food.
